The new year starts with the plan to add some more "go" into the old Bus.

the "new" engine should have a little more power than stock
realized with some old school tuning

so i decide to add some cm³ and a TDE 34PCI carbs

Work starts with a head job

now they ported and the valve guides removed
heads cut out for 90.5 cylinders

Valve size will be stock 32/35

compression would be 9.5:1

the old 34 PCI carbs looking bad inside.....
so cleaning cleaning cleaning........

think i`ve 95% of the stuff to build the car, a lot of parts i´ve since 15-20 years

It is VANtastic to own and use one of those cosy VW-Nutzfahrzeuge.
Yesterday he brought me to work at morning - at the evening driving home with open Safaris was great.
Today he helps when we were gardening an pick up some apples.
Tomorrow he will work as a parts-getter wehn we go to the Veterama.
And on sunday he will be a promo vehicle for the company where my wife is working.....

today i`ve to pick up a old Pick Up which was the last 20 years only used once a year for karneval.

The single cab wears a little house and at the loading bed was a fence a bench seat for da kids and during the parade a 4 meter high witch.

a friend of mine was looking for a splity.

The "must have" are as follow: Stock hight, good condition - diveable, it should be a camper or a 11 window bus.
During our seach we found a nice looking EZ-Camper at the east cost in England.....

The trip starts friday morning at the Baden Ariport - a Ryanair flight to London

Via Lodon Kings Cross we took the train for a 3-hours ride up to the north-east....

the friendly seller picked us up at the train station an 10 minutes later we checked the the Bus an used it for a longer testdrive.....

all was fine, the condition was ok, so .... deal!

So we start our journey back to the south in this vintage veedub......

was realy great drove down the small roads in this classic

ohhh baracuda..... at a small workshop we saw those ratty slammed 56 panel with was for sale a while ago in the Nederlands. think many of you saw it at thesamba our other online marketplaces for sale.

after a 210 km trip we arrived at Burwell at the T2D`s "Chilli Night"

sorry for the bad quality of the pics.... was late and only a mobile phone cam....

unfortunaltly we were a litte late so the we missed some nice cars but maybee 30-40 are still there

the `55 Panel is now registered in Germany

Today i`ve been at the office their - some litte discussion about my dutch custom papers - they cant read it also some in english are not good egnouth but the girl was very friendly and in fact that i was the last customer before she had off it was ok for her.

My friend have to go to a translation office with his papers and have to pay a nother 150.-€`s for the translation.......

good luck - this time it was not nessecary.

the bus is now street legal with a H plate ´so i can drive everywher without any problems

Yesterday at 7.30 a.m. i had the technical inspection at our local TÜV station (MOT).

The hole ceck was done in 20 minutes, the guy who cecked the car was really very friendly and all works well.

After the inspection he decided that the Bus is a real Oldtimer and he can get a H-plate (historical vehicle) thats not so easy here in germany for lowered Buses.

So he is now ready for a german registration!

The next weeks some signwritten will follow and we also try to fake a little patina.....

Yesterday i put my old AJS "Racer" out of the garage for a general cleaning and some TLC.

After checking the oil, cleaning the sparkplugs and the fuelfilter she runs after the second kick.

I own her now since 2 years, original he runs in the swiss from 1951 till 1957 than she was parked in a garage. Around 1974 she was modified into a racer but never driven.

The bike was not restored, only the tires where changed 2 years ago the rest is still in the condition i found her.
So after 2 year of "nice weater use" it was time for a new TÜV- check.

The check at the was the same like 2 years ago i think the Tüv-guy was afraid to drive her.

He ask me if i can do the brake test for him in fact of the shifter was on the right side end he will not try this :-)

the second question was - does the light work, yes sure.

OK, thats fine, so here are your papers back, be carefull.

Thanks - it takes around 2 minutes for the hole check - therefor i`ve to pay 39.- Euros.....

not the ceapest sticker you can buy ;-)

today i found the time to fineshd the most of the work to get the 55

ready for the road. The rear shocks i changed to NOS`ones and thanks to Christopher at Bugwelder the E-Brake cable fits perfect!!

after the first few km`s

may i will lower it a little more but as it is it drives really well an i know it form my 68 who kiss the ground it looks porn but it drives......

sure at these perfect day the safaris must be open

not only i ad a smile at my face

i just bought those nice `67 1500 today

i know this car around 18 years now, after a break down it was siting in a garage without a engine for 15 years

nice inside, no work is nessecary here

wheels are 5,5 with 165 , popouts in the back, first paint, nice patina, no or minimum rust

only one litte patch at the front the rest was unwelded

not sure what i should do with it!

leave it as a stock vintage beetle

or add a set of dropped spindles and a set of fuchs......

or may i sell it????

After a short brake the work on the `55 Panel goes on.
Today i weld the holes on the roof (a roofrack was bolted on the roof long time ago) and some little holes from a Samba trim with was mounted at the bus at some time.

So 80% of the welding was finished!!!!

thats the laser cut ring witch is waiting to weld in

at our "special mounting plate" i can adjust the position where it sits later

the ring is now fixed at the right position so our welding guru can make his job soon

the first time i saw the "Garage Fischer"-special personally, not only from pics

what the hell is this????
i dont know a lot but as far as i know it was build in the late 50`s or early 60`s
by a coachbuilder named Fischer, they build 5 pcs.
The pickup looks similar the the Beutler pickup that was build in the same time.
In my VW history i saw ony 1 of them (Oval based beutler) in the last 18 years.
I`ve also the original paperwork to the car, it says: Lieferwagen Kabine mit Brücke.
That means, delivery van, single cab with loading area.

by the way, those car was last driven in 1971, more than 36 years ago.....

The paint i dit myself, think the job was also done right.

Also the engine is running now great.

The first longer trip goes to the european bug in and back (1000 km).

Inside:

at the pasenger / cargo ariea i removed the old panels (see above)

an changed them against "new" ones.

Dit i say new, ok, i mean used ones from a junk yard bus.

I spend arround 13.- Euro for a can color so they look now pretty good.

Also the wood trim gets a new paint.

Since few months i look for some engine parts to build a 1776 Typ 1
I`ve a new case, chrank, piston /cylinder an so on but some parts are still missing.
So i checked few internet sides for parts.
At one day i found a very small add: 1600 356 engine price: ???? €
5 minutes later after a phone call with the seller i was sitting in my car to pick up the engine.
The price was realy good, so i think i cant go wrong with this deal.

First i tought, it should go in to my 56 Oval but why not try to put it in the bus?
Some parts i had to change ore bulid
the generater is a small 6 Volt so i had to look for a 12 Volt
I searched 2 months for one, finaly i bought a compleet VW industial engine to get a 90mm generater with 12 Volt.
The Starter now is a 6 Volt version to match to the flywheel.
Also i had to build a adapter from the 356 engine to the T2a engine cross beam.
Finaly all fitts.
I still have to do some adjustment on the 32 NDIX carbs but hopefully they will work soon.

not the best weather to start a trip to London.....
after 690 km our first stop for more than 5 minutes, 3 hours to sleep before we has to check in at the ferry

We arrived Friday afternoon, on of the first cars i saw was those pretty cool oval window bug

few day ago i got a call from a freiend....

he told me that the Opel dealer near his home has something special for sale......

so yesterday i visit my freiend and together we checked those `66 pickup

The Splitty was from the 1`st owner, it was sitting outside the arround the last 15-20 years.

At those pics it looks mutch better than it realy is.

The cargo bed was covered with a flat sheetmetal, the rockers outriggers and so on where welded a few times, the most of the lower 20 cm are dead.....

Unfortunaly the price for the singlecab was arround 1800.- € to high against our offer....

so we have to leave witout a "new" toy.....

Yesterday i get those nice set of fuchs alloys.

Never repainted still in mint shape, ok i know they are only 14 inch ones but
